Terms of Service
Booking, cancellation, safety, and payment terms for our rides.
Last updated: October 4, 2026
These Terms of Service apply to rides provided by CarePath Transport ("CarePath," "we," "us") and to your use of this website. By booking a ride or using this website, you agree to these terms.
1. Non-emergency service only
CarePath provides non-emergency medical transportation. We are not an ambulance service, and our drivers do not provide medical care. In a medical emergency, call 911. If a rider's condition appears to require emergency care before or during a trip, our driver will call 911.
2. Booking and confirmation
- Rides may be requested by phone, email, or this website. A request is not confirmed until we confirm it with you.
- We recommend booking at least 24–48 hours ahead. Same-day rides depend on availability.
- Please tell us when booking about mobility equipment, the rider's assistance needs, companions, and any stairs or access issues at pickup or drop-off.
3. Pickup times and waiting
- Please be ready at your scheduled pickup time. Drivers will wait up to 15 minutes past the scheduled pickup time before the trip may be treated as a no-show.
- Return trips are scheduled at booking or when you call for pickup. The first 15 minutes of waiting are free. After that, wait time is billed at $25.00 per hour.
- Traffic, weather, and earlier trips can affect arrival times. We'll contact you if we're running late.
4. Cancellations and no-shows
Please cancel at least 24 hours before pickup. Cancellation fees depend on how much notice you give:
- 24 hours or more before pickup: no charge.
- 2 to 24 hours before pickup: $15.00 late-cancellation fee.
- Less than 2 hours before pickup, or a no-show: $30.00 no-show fee.
Wait-time charges and these fees apply to private-pay rides. Rides arranged through a health plan or broker follow that program's cancellation rules.
5. Rider responsibilities
- Wheelchairs and mobility devices must be in safe working order. We may decline to transport equipment that can't be secured safely.
- Riders must wear seat belts or approved securement as directed by the driver.
- Riders who need supervision or hands-on help beyond door-through-door assistance must travel with a caregiver or attendant.
- One companion may ride along when space allows. Please tell us when booking.
- Smoking, vaping, alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons, and abusive or unsafe behavior are not allowed in our vehicles.
6. Safety decisions
Our drivers may delay, change, or refuse a trip if they reasonably believe it is unsafe for the rider, the driver, or others, for example because of severe weather, unsafe access at a pickup location, or equipment that can't be secured.
7. Payment
Private-pay rides are due at the end of each ride. We accept all major credit and debit cards, including tap-to-pay, and Cash App. Card payments are processed securely by Square, and CarePath does not store your card number. You can also pay online through a secure Square payment link on our website or one we text or email you. Facility and agency accounts are invoiced monthly. Rides covered by a health plan, broker, or facility are billed under that arrangement, and riders are responsible for any amount the payer does not cover, where allowed by the program.
8. Personal belongings
Please keep personal items with you. CarePath is not responsible for items left in vehicles, though we'll make reasonable efforts to return anything found.
9. Website use
Information on this website is general information about our services, not medical, legal, or insurance advice. Coverage rules for Medicaid, Medicare, and other plans change, so please confirm coverage with your plan. You agree not to misuse this website or submit false information through it.
10. Limitation of liability
- Delays. We work hard to be on time, but traffic, weather, road conditions, vehicle trouble, and earlier trips can cause delays. We are not responsible for missed or late appointments, or for costs that result from them, such as rescheduling fees, when the delay is caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- Indirect losses. To the fullest extent allowed by law, CarePath is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost wages, lost business, or missed appointment fees, arising from our services or this website.
- Personal property. Our liability for loss of or damage to personal property, other than mobility equipment, is limited to the amount you paid for the ride during which the loss occurred. Please keep valuables with you.
- Mobility equipment. We take care in loading and securing wheelchairs, walkers, and scooters. Please tell us about any damage before the driver leaves so we can document it.
- Information you give us. We rely on the information provided when a ride is booked, including the rider's mobility and assistance needs. We are not responsible for problems caused by information that was incomplete or inaccurate.
- What these limits don't cover. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for injury or damage caused by our negligence, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, or any responsibility that cannot be limited under Michigan law. CarePath carries commercial auto and general liability insurance.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when they last changed.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan.
